PAC Scholarships

 

Ellertson Family Scholarship

 

The Ellertson Family Scholarship fund was established in 2008 to assist families with children who love swimming but would not able to swim because of financial hardship. PAC grants scholarships based on financial need, input from coaches, demonstrated dedication to swimming, and the availability of scholarship funds. Since PAC is a dues-funded organization, scholarship funds are limited.

 

Scholarships cover only monthly dues. Registration fees, swim meet fees, volunteer hours, and merchandise costs will be billed and payable by the family regardless of scholarship status.  

 

For the 2010/2011 season families may request funding to cover up to 50% of monthly dues. The scholarship application must be received no later than September 30, 2010, to be considered for funding this year. All candidates will be notified of the PAC Board’s decision by October 22, 2010. All awarded scholarships will be retroactive to September 1, 2010.

 

Application Process:

  1. Submit completed application with:
    1. documentation that your child is eligible for free or reduced lunch

OR

b.     documentation supporting financial hardship such as job loss or long-term illness.

 

  1. Submit completed application no later than September 30, 2010, via:

b.     Snail mail to PAC Scholarship, 10836 SW 64th Ave, Portland, OR 97219.

 

3.     The scholarship committee will request a reference letter from the swimmer’s coach.

 

  1. This year the awards will be distributed according to PAC groups:
  • Bronze 1:    2 recipients
  • Bronze 2:    1 recipient  
  • Silver:         2 recipients
  • Gold:           1 recipient
  • Senior Prep: 1 recipient
  • Senior:        1 recipient

If there is no applicant for a particular group, the committee will use its discretion on how to distribute funding.

 

5.  The committee will make recommendations at the PAC Board meeting on the third Monday in October for final approval. Recipients will be notified by October 22, 2010 as to whether or not they receive funding.
